I'm adding this new thread to address new projects both residential/commercial in nature on the westside which I am describing as everything west of Silas Creek Parkway.

A Roanoke, Va., health-care provider wants state permission to acquire the license for 121 assisted-living beds in Forsyth County and move them to a site off Meadowlark Drive in west Winston-Salem.
The group wants to purchase the license to open a $14.56 million facility in the 5500 block of Hundley Road and call it The Crossings at Winston-Salem — the same brand used with its other assisted-living facilities. The 23.5-acre site is directly across from Meadowlark Middle and Elementary schools.

The 121 beds are licensed to Raintree Healthcare of Forsyth LLC, which operates Integrity Assisted Living and a shuttered Cornerstone Living Center at 2900 Reynolds Park Road. The Roanoke group is headed by James and Hunter Smith. According to an application document, they have completed or acquired 25 adult-care homes in North Carolina as Smith/Packett Med-Com LLC. The Smiths have requested an expedited review in hopes of getting approval by early November. It has set a goal of beginning construction in August 2018 and admitting residents by August 2019.

The facility would have 60 full-time equivalent employees. The group plans to commit 48 beds to a special-care unit for Alzheimer’s patients and those with dementia. Respite services will be available for short-term care. There are plans for a significant independent living community in a later phase of the project.

The group plans to accept private-pay and Alzheimer’s and dementia patients who rely on Medicaid. It projects being at 90 percent occupancy within the first year of service and drawing 90 percent of its residents from Forsyth.

This site is part of the Brookberry Farm development's commercial portion near Meadowlark's intersection of Country Club Road. Parr Investments, has purchased property toward the rear of this parcel for the construction of an apartment complex. Parr has several aprt. complexes in Winston, the closest being at the opposite end of Meadowlark in the Shoppes of Robinhood development. SECU has been approved to build a branch fronting Meadowlark Drive in the same commercial district. I believe construction on the widening of Meadowlark is to begin next year. I still cant' believe that the City is only adding a single turn lane instead of developing a full 5 lane road way in this area. Hubbard Development owns a lot of undeveloped property on the east side of Meadowlark that will obviously be developed in the not to distant future.
