For months locals have speculated, guessed and wondered why a large swath of land along Old U.S Highway 52 north of Lexington near the Quality Mart gas station was being cleared of trees.

A developer's request Tuesday night before the Davidson County Planning and Zoning Board to rezone the land from HI (heavy industrial) to RM-1 (medium density residential district) gave the curious an answer.
