NCCU Accepted into the MEAC!
If WSSU votes to continue to Div. 1, NC will have, without a doubt, the most intense intrastate rivalry in the conference...HBCU Tobacco Rd.!

WSSU has stopped its drive to Division I.
The decision to continue to compete in Division II and rejoin the CIAA was made Friday afternoon, by the school's board of trustees at a specially called meeting on campus. |

Did anyone on the forum watch the UGA-SC game! One of the most exciting games in a long time and I question if the Dawgs can win an SEC championship this year. LSU looks strong this year, as they usually do.
At UGA, they are building a large football related facility, valued at $40 million.

The Panthers are set to sign quarterback A.J. Feeley after putting backup quarterback Josh McCown on season-ending injured reserve. Jake Delhomme committed five turnovers and was benched for McCown. Coach Fox said Delhomme remains the starter for Sunday's game. Feeley has 15 career starts and 27 touchdown passes and 29 interceptions. McCown had 31 career starts, 35 touchdown passes and 40 interceptions. If Delhomme struggles again against the Falcons, Feeley might be a new man on the roster. _________________ "So long as they don't get violent, I want to let everyone say what they wish, for I myself have always said exactly what pleased me." - Albert Einstein |

I've long wanted the Panthers to trade Jake and bring-in a real, proven QB. I don't think Feeley is the answer though. I'm sure the cap is restricting their moves, but they should make room and sign a real QB and move Jake where he belongs (a backup role).
As a Falcons fan, I do recommend starting Jake next Sunday. _________________ Fourth and Main: The skyscraper canyon. |

UNC Charlotte leaders showed off a plan to reshape the campus over the next 10 years. A football stadium, new quads, a recreation center and an arts center are included. The university projected 35,000 students by 2020 and has 24,700 students now. Ideas include gutting and renovating the high-rise residential towers.

| Apparently continuing pessimism - UNCC gets complete overhaul; UNCG continues increased everything and develops nanotech lab; and WSSU stuggles academically and constuctionally, and falls back embarassingly from Divison I attempt to languish in Division II. I still say it should be UNCWS. |

| I pray that he resigns soon. I dont think Mr. Reaves is right for WSSU's needs. |

Mississippi could lose two Div. IAA football programs
Barbour: Mississippi Should Merge Universities
JACKSON, Miss. -- Gov. Haley Barbour said the state should consider merging some of its universities to save money.
Barbour, in announcing his budget recommendations Monday, said Mississippi University for Women should merge with nearby Mississippi State University and that Alcorn State University and Mississippi Valley State University be merged into Jackson State University.
Barbour said none of the campuses would close.
The proposed change would leave Mississippi with five public universities rather than the current eight.
Barbour's consolidation proposal would have to be approved by lawmakers. It is part of his suggested budget for the fiscal year that begins next July 1.

I remember a proposal a few months ago to merge Savannah State University with Armstrong Atlantic State University and to merge Albany State University with Darton College. It was proposed as a way to save the state of Georgia money. I don't remember all of the details. Colleges are a way to produce jobs, build an educated workforce prepared for the best jobs and often are leaders in creating economic development, new economy employers and attracting new economy employers. We should create more colleges during economic downturns, instead of merging them. _________________ Fourth and Main: The skyscraper canyon. |

Jake Delhomme was released by the Panthers. The Panthers are still on the hook for $12.675 million from the contract extension they gave him last year. Matt Moore will take over as the starter. Delhomme has every significant franchise passing record and a 58-40 record, including the playoffs. _________________ "So long as they don't get violent, I want to let everyone say what they wish, for I myself have always said exactly what pleased me." - Albert Einstein |
