Winston-Salem and Forsyth County could run out of land suitable for development in 50 to 60 years, if we continue to develop at the same pace and the same density we've experienced. Of the 200,793 acres in Forsyth County, 62,372 acres are available for development. The analysis focused on urban areas and suburbs. The planning department hopes that the analysis will start discussions about future growth. State projections call for an additional 130,000 people in Forsyth County by 2030. _________________ "So long as they don't get violent, I want to let everyone say what they wish, for I myself have always said exactly what pleased me." - Albert Einstein |

That's not as many as I thought might be the increase - the State does not seem to believe there will be any sort of growth in Forsyth other than normal. The addition of 130,000 still makes the county just under 500,000, and I wonder what the projection is for Guilford. Still 500k in the county just might finally reach critical mass.
I don't think I'd worry about running out of developable land as there are all sorts of innovative ways of reusing land. |
